The Challenge and Customer Requirements

Our customer set out to design a side panel with bold, solid shapes for a new top-of-the-range machine. Stainless-steel sheet metal was chosen over plastic as the preferred solution, with the goals of minimising tooling investment, achieving top aesthetic quality, and avoiding the need for painting or surface treatments after production.

The Solution: Hydroformed Side Panel

Hydroforming AISI 304 stainless-steel sheets perfectly met all requirements, delivering exceptional quality, outstanding process flexibility, and extremely low tooling costs. The customer was highly satisfied with the market response to the machine, which has proven to be a clear success — so much so that a second model using hydroformed sheet metal is already in development.

Naturally, hydroforming is also an excellent solution for manufacturing other coffee machine components such as drip trays, rear panels, and various structural parts.
