The Challenge and Customer Requirements

A manufacturer of advanced electronic devices – used in the food, pharmaceutical, and other industries – developed an innovative product requiring a specially designed tubular shell made from AISI 316L (EN 1.4404) stainless steel.

In addition to its complex shape, the project demanded an unusually strict quality standard, including:

mechanically processed surfaces entirely free of scratches, irregularities, or tooling marks.
complete absence of contaminants such as grease or lubricants.
extremely tight tolerances.

Recognising that these technical specifications were beyond the reach of traditional sheet metal forming processes, the customer turned to Inoxveneta to develop the project using hydroforming.

The Solution: Hydroforming

Hydroforming proved to be the winning solution, especially because it allowed the tube to be formed from the inside, with no mechanical contact – ensuring flawless internal surface quality.

Inoxveneta developed the project according to the required parameters, implementing an advanced welding and hydroforming process. The result was a perfectly functional hydroformed shell, fully compliant with the specifications.

The tests carried out confirmed the customer’s complete satisfaction and validated the effectiveness of the adopted solutions. The product was subsequently industrialised and brought to market, with several units now in full operation at end-customer facilities.
